Kristi Ferguson Appointed as New Senior Manager of Communications and Community Relations
The Abbotsford School District is pleased to announce Kristi Ferguson's appointment as the new Senior Manager of Communications and Community Relations, effective July 8, 2024. Kristi brings an extensive background in fundraising communications, particularly within the healthcare and community non-profit sectors, making her a valuable addition to our team.
Kristi most recently served at the Pacific Public Health Foundation, where she directed a significant rebranding and name-change initiative, showcasing her ability to lead and manage complex communication strategies. Her previous experience includes several years with the Surrey Hospitals Foundation, where she excelled in managing branding, media relations, and crisis communication efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She is a firm believer in the power of impactful storytelling to foster community engagement and strengthen connections with diverse stakeholders," said Sean Nosek, Superintendent of Schools. In her new role, Kristi will provide strategic communications counsel to the executive leadership team and the Board of Education. She will develop and execute communications strategies that highlight the school district’s vision, strengths, and achievements, enhancing its overall reputation and brand. Kristi will oversee all district communications, ensuring the school district remains innovative, responsive, and accountable.
Kristi holds a Public Relations diploma from the University of Victoria and a Marketing Management – Fundraising Management certificate from BCIT. Her academic background, combined with her professional experience, positions her uniquely to lead the district's communication initiatives.
